Subject Key Words (academic subject specific) vocabularyThere are so many words! The more you know, the more you'll go on to know- as your word power increases exponentially the more we read and learn together. Here are a selection of some subject specific (academics call this 'tier 3') vocabulary that you may not come across in everyday life, but are an important part of knowing and understanding different curriculum subjects. WARNING-these are not intended as dry 'lists' for you to learn. They are just a reminder of some words that you will explore with your teachers at CHES and Torlands in the course of the curriculum. We have put these here on the website as a support resource only. You might want to use them independently as a self-checking tool and to 'get ahead' prior to lessons, or for a quick bit of revision. Equally, your teacher may refer you to these at the end of a topic to consolidate learning, or one of our Family Support Workers or your parent/carer may look at these with you to reinforce and support your learning from time to time if that is something you opt to do with them. Click on the different subject specific vocabulary documents. We will update these as this resource builds.
